LCS Staff Enrollment Window

We are excited to share important updates about the Pre-Kindergarten registration process for the 2026–27 school year. Please note that this year’s process is different from previous years.

Registration Timeline

PK/VPK registration for the 2026–27 school year will take place in the Focus Parent Portal.

  • Registration Opens: January 7
  • Registration Closes: March 2
  • School Choice Form Due: March 2
  • Staff Priority Placement Decisions: March 13
  • Families Must Accept School Assignment in Focus By: March 27

Required Documents

Families will upload all registration documents directly into the Focus Parent Portal, including:

  • Two proofs of residency:

    • Homestead exemption, mortgage deed, current lease, current rental agreement, or property tax record 
      -      AND-
    • Current electric bill, or activation notice is acceptable (dated within 30 days), vehicle registration, or government mail. (Note: drivers' licenses and voter registration cards are not accepted as proof of residency)
  • Birth Certificate 
  • Current immunization record
  • Physical examination
  • Signed 2026–27 VPK Certificate of Eligibility

A School Choice form must also be submitted through the Focus Parent Portal to indicate the PK site your family is requesting. You must complete this school choice form even if you are planning to send your child to their home zone school. Directions for School Choice HERE.

 

Staff Priority for School Selection

LCS employees receive priority consideration when selecting a PK site for their child. In most cases, staff will receive their requested school unless that school has reached full capacity.
Staff priority placement decisions will be finalized by March 13.

Families must accept their assigned school in Focus no later than March 27.

Optional Developmental Screening

If you have concerns about your child’s development or readiness, optional screenings are available Monday through Friday. The PK Office will schedule these appointments for families as needed.
Screenings are supportive tools and are not required for PK placement.
