With 90% of brain development occurring before age five, the experiences children have in these early years shape how they learn, communicate, and grow. That’s why we’re committed to providing rich, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environments from the very start.

Why Early Learning Matters

High-quality early learning sets the stage for strong academic and social foundations. At LCS:

• Instruction begins early, starting at age 3 for eligible students and at age 4 for Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK).
• Our classrooms use The Creative Curriculum, a research-based, play-centered approach aligned with the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards.
• Every PK classroom is led by a certified early childhood educator, supported by trained paraprofessionals who help create responsive, engaging, and inclusive learning experiences.

Program Highlights

Research-Based Curriculum
All Pre-K classrooms use The Creative Curriculum, a nationally recognized, play-based program aligned with the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards. Children build foundational skills in literacy, math, science, and social–emotional development through engaging, purposeful experiences.

Highly Qualified Educators
Every classroom is led by a state-certified Pre-K teacher and supported by trained paraprofessionals. Together, they create nurturing, inclusive environments where children feel known, valued, and empowered to grow.

Early Start for School Success
Instruction begins at age 3 for eligible students and age 4 for VPK, giving children more time to build strong language, cognitive, and social skills before entering kindergarten.

Learning Through Play
From art and music to movement and hands-on exploration, students learn by doing. Our classrooms are intentionally designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving.

Family Engagement
We believe families are children’s first teachers. Teachers and staff partner closely with families through communication, conferences, and school events to support each child’s learning journey.
